Here are a few tips that will help you with this event (and other similar events too):

• – As many others have said Abe and Glenn are SSS tier characters.
•  
• – You can use a mercenary from your friends so you can use that to get a strong DPS (Abe,Kate,Andrea,etc) or a support (Glenn, Eugene, Michonne, etc) unit to help your team cover what you are most lacking in.

• –Shane + Andrea is another good combo you can use as a secondary option.
•  
• –Don't hesitate to switch your best gear around different characters for each fight or move gear from dead characters to usable one's
•  
• - You can exit a fight before it ends if the outcome is looking grim. That makes the fight not count which means the characters are all alive, you can then change things around and try again. (You habe to restart or exit before all your characters die).
•  
• – If you are really early game and struggling a lot, know that you can also restart the event (you won't get the rewards you have already claimed again). This will allow you to try new strategies, units etc.
