According to the info panel for VIP experience, you get it from the level of your profile and purchases on the “perks” page. 

So am I right to assume this excludes purchases like the premium pass and other purchases that do not explicitly show the vip xp on purchase (like with the one time purchases in limited/normal perks and timed purchases like special perk).
