Developer's Note <1.9 Update News>

Happy New Year, Survivors! Executive Producer HAND here.

How’s the new year treating you?
Is everything in 2023 moving on just as you expected?

The preparation for this 1.9 Update was a bit of a hassle due to the holiday season, but luckily, we were able to finish it on time.

Let’s take a deep breath and dive right into the details of the update!

1. Benefit

With the new “Workshop” in Town, the new Benefit system is included in the new update. You can craft Benefits with the materials obtained from various contents at the Workshop behind the Community. Characters can equip the Benefits through the Manage section of the Workshop.

The crafted Benefits vary in grade (Epic/Unique/Legendary) and depending on the grade, the additional options applied to vary as well (Alignment/Class/Specific Character-exclusive). If the character that equips the Benefit matches the available option, then the effects will be greater. Same goes for the “Character-exclusive” option, which will greatly increase the strengths of that specific character when equipped. If you happen to have Benefits that you do not wish to use, then you can use the “Retrieve” system to obtain the materials from that Benefit to craft other Benefits.

You can think of the Benefit system simply as new equipment. The specifics of the Benefit system shouldn’t be too difficult to understand and we hope that it will help boost the growth of your characters. To help you get started and as a celebration for the new update, we will be handing out ten thousand of the Benefit craft materials! We hope you all enjoy these “Benefits” after the update 😉.

2. Facility Management & Designated Survivor Recruit

We’ve had quite a few requests from our Survivors that there needs to be a buff regarding the rewards obtained through searches. With that in mind, I believe the new Facility Management will be just the right solution to ameliorate the situation. The new Facility Management in the Administration building will allow Survivors to meet certain requirements and activate the facilities to earn additional buffs. The buffs are mainly for Auto Search, Quest, and Supply Run rewards and so they will make it easier for Survivors to stock up.

It's also been a hassle to recruit the character of your choice, right?

Well, now we’ve got the “Designated Survivor Recruit” system in place, where you can “designate” a character of your choice whenever an Epic character is recruited. This new recruiting system is available if you have at least one Legendary character and when you activate the “Generator”. The Designated Survivor Recruit has a limited number of recruits every 30 days, starting from the day you open the system (i.e., if you activate the generator today, then today will be Day 1). Depending on your progress in the Facility Management, the limit to recruit may be increased. We believe that this recruit system will help Survivors to obtain the characters of their choice more easily.

3. New Survivor/New Skin

Along with Siddiq, the new Ally Survivor, John (The Walking Dead series original character) is awaiting. John’s a Technician in the Bystander Alignment, just like Chloe and Lake, who can deal AoE damage and use the “Ignite” skill to deal DoT damage, so we expect to see his potential, deal-wise.

Now, let’s talk about the long-awaited, new skin incoming! For the next new skin, we have chosen Kate, a Neutral Alignment Technician. Kate has been chosen to be the next character with a new skin as she is one of the few cute(?) characters in The Walking Dead: All-Stars. To realistically comport with The Walking Dead universe, Kate has equipped thermal gears to get through the cold winter season of Asyl, which is based in Buffalo, New York. Thus, the name of the skin has been decided as <Snow Hunter>. There’s also a new skin effect for Kate, so for those of you who frequently use Kate in battles, you are in for a treat!

Apart from the details of the update mentioned above…

* Improvements for Sophia

We have had many complaints and inquiries regarding Sophia’s skill, where she follows the ally with the most CP. I myself have had problems with this issue where I have to unequip some of the equipment from my characters and replace them with lower-grade equipment just to make sure that Sophia follows the character I want. To mitigate such a superfluous task, after the update, you can now select the character you wish Sophia would follow along. By doing so, we believe that for those who use Sophia, it will be much easier to manage the team without having to worry about the CP of each character.

* Addition of Total War x2 Event

An event where you can earn double the rewards from the Total War content will be added. The rewards doubled are going to be Conduct Manual and crafting materials for the Benefit system. Conduct Manuals are important for character growth in late game, so we hope everyone receives as many Conduct Manuals as possible during the event period.

Though this is the end of the Dev Note for the 1.9 Update, let me briefly give you a glimpse of what’s upcoming in the second 1.9 Update and the 1.10 Update. The second update for 1.9 will include an original character, William, and the inclusion of the Overseer Alignment for the Benefit system. In the 1.10 Update, Predator and Bystander Alignments will be added to the Benefit system and various new events will also be available.

On a side note, we want to apologize in advance for the extension of our preparation for the second 1.9 Update. Since the next 1.9 Update will be during the Lunar New Year holiday, the update will be pushed back for another week and will be available 3 weeks later (2/7). Therefore, the 1.10 Update will be set for 2/20, two weeks after the second 1.9 Update.

Time seems to fly by because the next update is just next week and the Lunar New Year holiday is just around the corner as well! We hope you all enjoy the game during the weekdays and finish the weekend with friends and family during the Lunar New Year holiday!

That’s it for today.

Thank you!
